On March 19, 1965, after completing the first spacewalk in the world, the crew of the Voskhod-2spacecraft, cosmonauts Pavel Belyayev and Aleksey Leonov, landed... but not exactly where they intended.
During the flight some emergencies developed. However, the crew managed to return to the Earth safe and sound. Still, they did not land where they expected, but ended up deep in the Siberian forest where winter still reigned, without any means for survival. They of course did survive, but it became clear that landing at a remote location may happen in any spaceflight and it can be pretty much any point on the globe between 60 degrees North and 60 degrees South. The probability of a serious accident can never be excluded, and therefore, astronauts must be prepared to take action in such situations.
Today, cosmonauts learn to survive at sea, in the mountains, in the desert, in forests and even in caves. Such training is always a test of will and character, as well as a good way to test the strength and cohesiveness of team relationships. Passing these tests changes people—they become stronger, more self-confident.
If you really want to test your strength, we are happy to assist you.
